People who are experiencing these orthodontic issues are usually good candidates for orthodontic treatment to encourage the proper growth and alignment of their smile.

Additionally, orthodontics may be an option for those who want to gain confidence and improve their overall oral health by establishing a perfectly aligned bite. In short, orthodontic treatment can help many people with misaligned teeth, creating a healthier and more confident smile.

What is Malocclusion?

Malocclusion is an orthodontic term commonly referred to as a "bad bite". It occurs when the upper and lower teeth are misaligned or don't fit together correctly. Left untreated, can have noticeable effects on a person's appearance, health and overall confidence.

It can be caused by overcrowding or spacing issues, where teeth are too close together or not close enough to properly meet when biting down. Other noticeable signs include an overbite or underbite where the upper and lower jaws don’t meet correctly, leading to difficulty with eating food and speaking properly. Fortunately for those suffering from malocclusion, orthodontists such as Bellissimo Dentistry specialize in helping people find the best orthodontic treatment solutions that will correct the misalignment.

Types of Orthodontic Treatment

Our Orthodontic Treatments at Bellissimo Dentistry can be broken down into a few different categories:

  • Clear Aligners: Clear aligners, also known as invisible braces, are a popular choice among orthodontic patients. Thanks to their discreet design, they offer an excellent way to improve your smile without being self-conscious. The aligners should be worn for at least 20 hours each day for the duration of treatment (on average 6 months). Every two weeks or so, you'll switch out the aligner for a new one as your teeth reposition themselves to produce a more beautiful smile.
  • ‍Retainers: A retainer is an orthodontic device used to help your teeth stay in their new, post-treatment position. Retaining your teeth in the right position can give you a beautiful and long-lasting smile after finishing orthodontic treatment. Retainers come in both fixed and removable varieties, so whether you prefer the convenience of removing it for eating, cleaning and comfort or wanting something more permanent and secure, we have options to fit everyone's needs!
